Concert for Cash started 4.5 years ago when we received the fatal diagnosis that our son, Cash Scanlon Phillips, had Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Cash was 3.5 months old. We, Page and Tess Scanlon-Phillips (parents) spent 2.5 weeks at the end of his life at Children's Hospital.
Cash lost his brave battle with SMA on May 14, 2007 during a tremendous lightning storm while we sang and held him in our arms. He was just 4 months old.
Through our grief and sorrow we have tried to make life better for those who need help. Like we needed while we were at Children’s. We spent the first 2 years raising money for a Healing Garden in Celebration of Cash for others at Children's to use as a place of solace, a time out from the hospital noises and walls.
The Cash Scanlon Phillips Healing Garden was dedicated May 14th 2009(2 year anniversary of Cash becoming our angel, our hero, our shining star).
We have donated funds to The Bereavement Program and The International Adoption Clinic at Children’s, Funding for hotels rooms for out of town families. Programs are close to our hearts.
And because we believe in giving back thru gardens and music……even though we are still grieving the loss of Cash, Concert for Cash will continue on in celebration of our Hero, our son…this is the 5th Annual Concert For Cash.
